About Us
POhWER was established in 1996 by our founders all of whom had disabilities and were fighting social injustice and challenges in their lives. Equal rights for all is a huge part of who we are at POhWER and we continue this fight wherever we work.
Over the last year, POhWER supported a total of 55,591 people through our advocacy services with 97,083 issues.
Of the people POhWER supported:
• 38% had a mental health condition
• 24% were over 75
• 16% had a long-term condition or illness
• 10% had a learning disability
• 10% had dementia
• 9% had a physical disability
• 4% had a sensory impairment
• 3% had Autism
